What's Drupal?

Drupal is Open Source software for building really powerful websites, from informational "brochure" sites to e-commerce to engaging social applications (make your own Facebook!).

Drupal is used by...

  • Small businesses
  • Hobbyists
  • Schools
  • Libraries
  • Nonprofits
  • Government (see whitehouse.gov!)
  • Large enterprises

What's the Drupal "community"?

Unlike similar "closed source" software, Drupal has a community side which is made up of the people who build Drupal, talk about it, teach others about it, and more.

We are those people in Southeastern Wisconsin :-)

What do we do at Drupal414?

For the most part, we get together once a month for a Meetup. At our meetups, there's usually a presentation and there's always amazing food! Besides the presentation, there's the opportunity to be social, network and get help solving problems.

We also frequently have a "co-working" session before the meetup where we sit at a table together and work on Drupal stuff, so we can ask for more in-depth help or just see what other people are working on.

And relatively infrequently we'll get together for a few hours on the weekend to do a more in-depth project called a "sprint" where we collaborate to improve some part of Drupal or Drupal-related technology.

Hey, look! It's a new site!

It's been quite a long time since we've had a website for Drupal414! That's, of course, a little ironic because as Drupal people we build websites all day (or, well, many of the days).

Thinking back to our old site, I'm pretty convinced it was a Drupal 5 or 6 site, but Steve insists it was Drupal 7. We'll never know - it's been lost to the annals of time.

In any case, we have a new, modern Drupal 8 site now!
